What is the DELF?
The DELF (Diplôme d'Études en Langue Française) is an official diploma awarded by the French Ministry of Education to certify the French language competency of candidates outside of France.

Is it available in Victoria?
Yes! Contact us if you are an independent school and interested in offering "DELF scolaire" to your students .

TCF & TEF

What is the TCF?
The TCF exam assesses a person’s level of French for general purposes. It is intended for people who are non-native speakers wishing to assess and certify their skills in French in a simple, reliable and timely fashion, and for academic, professional, or personal reasons.

What is the TEF?
The TEF Canada is recognised as official proof of language proficiency by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) as well as the Quebec Ministry of Immigration and Cultural Communities (MICC) for permanent residency applications, Quebec Selection Certificate applications and Canadian citizenship applications.


Alliance Française Vancouver, as a language centre and an exam center offers regular TEF and TCF exam sessions. All the information and the registration forms are available on their website.

FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions


💰 Can I request a refund?
As per our policies, Any purchase of a TEF or TCF is final. No refund,  nor credit  will be issued if you decide/cannot take the exam. No possibility to reshedule or transfer your exam to another person neither.

📍Where does the exam take place? Is it online?
All exams will take place in-person, 1B-1218 Langley Street, Victoria, BC. 

⏰ When is the exam? Do I need to take the day off?
All exams take place between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
We recommend keeping your entire day free, as exact exam times are subject to rescheduling. You will receive an official email invitation with your specific exam time approximately one week before your test date.

💻 What material will be used for the exam?
We provide all materials. Each candidate will use a computer with a QWERTY layout, headphones are used for the listening and a virtual keyboard with special letters appears on the screen during the writing. These three sections are held one after another in the same room.

📓 What should I bring on the day of the exam?
A passport is the only form of identification allowed for check-in on the day of the exam. A bottle of water and something to snack on during the exam are permitted, as long as they are not noisy.

📜 How will I receive my results? What's the timeline?
Both results for TEF and TCF exams will be delivered by email, it can take up to 4 weeks for the TCF and 2 weeks for the TEF.

⚠️ What if I need special accommodations?
If candidates require special arrangements to take the exam (extra time and/or an individual room due to ADHD or other needs), the TEF exam is the preferred option. A medical certificate must be provided minimum two weeks prior to the exam date in order to receive such accommodations.
