L’Alliance française de Victoria (AfV) is a Canadian non profit cultural and educational association dedicated to the promotion of the French language and culture. L’Af has been active in Victoria for over 100 years. We offer a variety of French language courses adapted to the needs of the learners: Conversation classes, group classes, private instruction. We organize events such as lectures, book discussions and get-togethers to celebrate the French culture.

Alliance française

Founded in 1883 in Paris, l’Alliance française is a worldwide network of over 1000 independently run associations. Local branches of Alliance française are associations set up under local laws and regulations and are completely autonomous. They are administered by local boards called Conseil d’administration (CA) whose members are volunteers and are elected by members.

Our mission is to foster the appreciation of the French culture, to encourage the study of the French language, and to engage people in variety of activities in a welcoming and friendly French-speaking environment.

“Some people want it to happen, some people wish it to happen, others make it happen”: Anonymous.

Volunteers are precious. They are the backbone of l’Alliance française de Victoria and they make our events happen. To them all we say: “Merci de faire partie de notre passé, de notre présent et de notre avenir.”
